If Hybird OS is showing gaps in data or certain breakers are not reporting measurements, follow this guide to identify the cause.
Step 1: Determine the scope
Is data missing from one breaker, multiple breakers, or the entire controller?
Single breaker · likely an RS485 communication issue with that specific breaker. Go to Step 2.
Multiple breakers but not all · could be an RS485 bus segment issue. Go to Step 2.
Entire controller · the controller itself may have been offline. Check the controller's "last seen" timestamp in Hybird OS and refer to the System Offline troubleshooting guide.
Step 2: Check RS485 communication
Hybird breakers communicate with the controller over RS485 at 500 Kbps. Each breaker has a unique Modbus ID on the bus. If communication is disrupted, the breaker's data stops appearing in Hybird OS.
In Hybird OS, check whether the affected breaker(s) are visible in the controller's device list.
Check the physical RS485 wiring connections at the affected breaker. Look for loose terminals, damaged cables, or disconnected wires.
If the breaker is at the end of the RS485 daisy chain, check that the bus termination is correct.
Step 3: Check the breaker itself
If the RS485 wiring is intact but the breaker still does not report:
Check whether the breaker is powered (is the circuit live?).
Check the breaker's LED indicator for its current state.
Try removing and re-inserting the breaker on the DIN rail if physically accessible.
Step 4: Check for intermittent issues
If data appears sporadically rather than being completely absent, the issue may be intermittent. Common causes include:
Loose RS485 connections that make and break contact with vibration or temperature changes.
Electromagnetic interference from nearby high-power equipment.
An RS485 bus that exceeds the maximum device count (80 breakers per controller).
Step 5: Escalate
If data gaps persist after checking wiring and breaker status, contact Hybird support with:
Site name and controller name
Which breaker(s) are affected (name and Modbus ID)
Whether the gap is continuous or intermittent
Any recent changes to the installation (new breakers added, wiring changes, panel work)
