Insurance and liability

This article outlines the general liability framework for Hybird products. It is not legal advice - refer to your service agreement and consult your own legal or insurance advisor for specific questions.

Product liability

Hybird hardware (breakers, controllers, PSU, UPS) is designed and manufactured to meet CE certification standards for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and low voltage safety (LVD). Hybird is liable for defects in manufacturing that cause damage when the product is used in accordance with its specifications and installation guidelines.

Installer responsibility

The certified installer is responsible for correct installation in accordance with Hybird's installation guides and applicable Danish electrical regulations (Stærkstrømsbekendtgørelsen and associated standards). Damage caused by incorrect installation - such as improper wiring, exceeding rated specifications, or failure to follow safety procedures - is the installer's responsibility, not Hybird's.

Customer responsibility

The customer is responsible for:

  • Providing a suitable electrical installation that meets the prerequisites for Hybird hardware.

  • Maintaining internet connectivity for the controller.

  • Not tampering with or modifying Hybird hardware.

  • Reporting any unusual behaviour (smell, heat, noise, visible damage) immediately.

What Hybird does not cover

Hybird is not liable for:

  • Damage from external causes: power surges, lightning, flooding, fire not originating from Hybird equipment, or other force majeure events.

  • Losses arising from electricity market conditions (e.g., if savings are lower than estimated due to price changes).

  • Consequential losses (e.g., lost business revenue) unless specifically agreed in the service contract.

  • Damage caused by use of non-genuine components or unauthorised modifications.

Warranty

Hybird hardware carries a 12-month warranty from date of delivery, covering manufacturing defects. See the Warranty Terms article for full details.

Insurance recommendation

Hybird recommends that all parties maintain appropriate insurance: installers should carry professional liability and public liability insurance covering electrical work; customers should ensure their property insurance covers electrical installations.
