Virtual meters: what they are and how to build one

Group several circuits into a single virtual meter for billing, comparison and ESG, and follow the steps to build one in Hybird OS.

What it is

Virtual sub-metering groups any combination of breakers into a single virtual meter, so you can measure consumption for a tenant, a zone or a piece of equipment without installing a physical meter.

What you can use it for

  • Tenant billing, by grouping the breakers that serve each tenant.

  • Comparing consumption between areas or periods.

  • ESG and energy reporting.

How to create one

  1. Create a new breaker set and give it a meaningful name.

  2. Tick the Virtual Meter option so the set shows up as a meter.

  3. Select the breakers that belong to it. Consumption is aggregated automatically.

Seeing the result

Each virtual meter then appears in your Energy Meters list with its own 24-hour and 30-day consumption and per-phase figures.

Good to know

A breaker can belong to more than one virtual meter, so you can report the same circuit in different groupings.
