Connecting your own AI assistant to Hybird over MCP

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or your own agent directly to your Hybird data over MCP · your credentials, your portal scopes, your data policy.

Overview

Hybird runs as an MCP server. That means you can connect the AI assistant you already use · Claude, ChatGPT, or an agent you have built yourself · directly to your own Hybird data, and ask questions in plain language: where your consumption is coming from, which devices are behind it, where the opportunities to save sit, or simply what explains this month's electricity bill. Hybird measures at the device level, so the answers come back circuit by circuit.

This is different from Ellie, the assistant inside Hybird OS. Ellie runs on the platform. An MCP connection runs in your tool, on your account, under your organisation's data policy.

How it works

  1. Connect. Add Hybird as an MCP server in your own assistant and authenticate.

  2. Scope. The connection carries your delegated scopes. You reach exactly what you reach in the portal and nothing beyond it · it is the same authenticated API underneath.

  3. Work. Ask your assistant questions across your Hybird data and anything else it can read. Last month's consumption per circuit across three sites, read against your own maintenance records · no integration, no report request, no waiting on a roadmap.

Get your connection URL

The connection is self-serve from Hybird OS:

  1. Open your site and go to Team.

  2. Click your own user, then Tokens.

  3. Choose what you are connecting · Claude (web, desktop or Claude Code) or ChatGPT · and copy the MCP server URL shown for it. Step-by-step instructions sit alongside each option.

Connect Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings (bottom-left), then Connectors.

  2. Choose Add custom connector, give it a name (for example your site's name), and paste the MCP server URL from your Tokens page. Hit continue and the server identifies itself.

  3. Select that authentication is required · this matters: it is what carries the right data-privacy permissions into the connection.

  4. Select the no client ID option, then add and connect.

  5. In a chat, tell Claude to use the Hybird connection. Claude asks permission the first time · allow once, or allow always.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. On your Tokens page, choose the OpenAI option and copy its MCP server URL.

  2. In ChatGPT, open Settings, browse to the connectors section and add your own custom tool.

  3. Name it (for example "Hybird · site data"), paste the MCP server URL, and acknowledge the understanding to create the connection.

  4. Allow access when asked, and start asking · visibility into what is actually happening on the devices in your panel, in the assistant you already use.

What to know before you connect

  • Your credentials, your access. The connection authenticates as you. Anyone you share the connected assistant with can reach what you can reach.

  • Your tool, your governance. Inside the Hybird platform, an investigation runs on Hybird's account and Hybird carries the responsibility. Over MCP, the conversation runs in your assistant on your account · what your assistant is permitted to read, and what it does with the result, sits with you and your organisation's data policy.

  • Same rules as the portal. Removing a user's portal access removes their MCP access with it · one permission model, everywhere.
