If the Hybird Edge Controller has been identified as faulty and a replacement unit has been provided, follow this procedure.
Before you begin
Confirm you have the replacement controller.
Note the faulty controller's Unique ID (visible on the unit label and in the Hybird OS).
Document the current breaker configuration: list of breaker names and Modbus IDs, as these will need to be re-associated with the new controller.
Step 1: Disconnect the faulty controller
Disconnect the Ethernet cable (or note the Wi-Fi network it was connected to).
Unscrew the two external antennas (Wi-Fi and GSM). Turn the base of each antenna only, never the body, to avoid damaging the ports. Set them aside for reuse on the replacement unit.
Disconnect the RS485 bus wire from the controller's terminal.
Disconnect the 24V DC power supply cable.
If an UPS is connected, disconnect it from the controller.
Remove the controller from the DIN rail.
Step 2: Install the replacement
Mount the replacement controller on the DIN rail.
Connect the 24V DC power from the PSU.
Connect the RS485 bus wire to the controller's RS485 terminal (same polarity as before).
Reattach the two antennas to the correct ports: the Wi-Fi antenna (cone) to the left Wi-Fi port, and the GSM antenna (straight cylinder with two end indents) to the right GSM port. Tighten by turning the base only, then twist the antenna once, completely, to seat it. Point both antennas backwards into the panel so they sit under the switchboard casing. Connect the Ethernet cable, or prepare to configure Wi-Fi during commissioning.
If using the UPS, reconnect it to the new controller.
Step 3: Power on and register
Apply power. The controller LED should show green when on.
Contact Hybird support to register the new controller to the existing site. Provide the new controller's Unique ID (from the label) and the site name.
Step 4: Re-scan, verify breakers and return the switchboard cover
In Hybird OS, run a breaker scan from the new controller's page.
Verify all breakers appear with their correct Modbus IDs.
Re-apply breaker names if they were not automatically carried over from the previous configuration.
Verify each breaker is reporting measurements.
If the above steps are complete, you can safely return the switchboard cover to the panel, ensuring the controller antennas are pointing backwards to make sure the cover can be correctly positioned.
Step 5: Test
Verify the controller shows a current "last seen" timestamp in Hybird OS.
Check uptime is counting from zero (confirming it is the new unit).
Test remote switching on a non-critical circuit.
Confirm alerts and monitoring are active for the site.
Step 6: Return the faulty unit
Return the faulty controller to Hybird per the RMA instructions within 14 days.
