Hybird Edge Controller complete specifications

Product overview

The Hybird Edge Controller is the central gateway for Hybird electrical panel installations. It provides real-time monitoring, remote state reporting, and data logging for all connected circuit breakers via a Modbus RS485 connection. The controller features triple connectivity (Ethernet primary, with Wi-Fi and LTE fallback) for continuous connectivity to the Hybird OS Platform.

Network connectivity

Ethernet (primary)

  • Standard RJ-45 Ethernet port

  • Cat-5e or Cat-6 cable

  • Minimum 1 Mbps broadband connection required

LTE (fallback / primary for ICO-CO)

Every Edge Controller ships with a pre-configured SIM card from Hybird, regardless of whether LTE is intended to be the primary connection method. This provides connectivity redundancy for all installations.

Antennas

The controller has two external screw-on antennas, fitted to dedicated ports and not interchangeable:

  • Wi-Fi antenna: cone shaped, female connector, fits the left (male) Wi-Fi port.

  • GSM antenna: straight cylinder with two indents at the free end, male connector, fits the right (female) GSM port.

Tighten each antenna by the base only, then twist once to seat it, and point both backwards into the panel to sit under the switchboard casing. See the Hybird Edge Controller installation guide for full fitting detail.

UPS (optional)

A lithium-polymer UPS (3.7 V, 20 Ah) is available separately to provide backup power to the controller during mains failure. The UPS is sold individually, not bundled with the controller. The controller can run for approximately 3 hours supplied only by the UPS battery.

Physical buttons and LED

  • Top button: Reboot (hold for 2 seconds)

  • Down button: No function currently assigned

  • Green LED: Illuminates when the controller has power

Firmware

Firmware updates are delivered over the air by Hybird HQ. Installers have no responsibilities around firmware versioning. Firmware rollback is available and managed by Hybird. Typical firmware update duration is less than 5 minutes.

Connectivity to the Hybird OS Platform

The Edge Controller connects to the Hybird OS Platform via secure HTTPS over port 443. The platform is hosted on AWS.

Further specifications

Operating temperature range, humidity range, IP and IK ratings (for ICO-CO), enclosure material, UV resistance, maximum input current, power consumption profiles, and any additional certifications will be published in the updated datasheet. Contact [email protected] for the latest datasheet.
