Overview
Hybird uses a standardised naming scheme for its breakers, controllers, and components. Understanding this naming convention helps you identify the correct product for your installation and troubleshoot compatibility issues. This guide explains how to decode model numbers and SKUs.
Breaker model naming convention
All Hybird RCBO, MCB and RCD part numbers follow a single structure that decodes to the relevant product specification:
HY-[PRODUCT TYPE]-[GROUP][AMPERAGE][CURVE][POLES][SENSITIVITY][RCD TYPE]-[VERSION]
Not every element applies to every product · MCBs carry no sensitivity or RCD type, and the version suffix is optional.
Component breakdown
HY = Hybird product designation
PRODUCT TYPE: The type of protective device
RCBO: Residual current breaker with overcurrent protection (combines RCD and MCB functions)
MCB: Miniature circuit breaker (overcurrent protection only)
RCD: Residual current device (earth leakage protection only)
GROUP: A single group-type letter following the hyphen (for example M in HY-MCB-M16C4P, R in HY-RCD-R404P3B).
AMPERAGE: Rated current in amps
RCBO 2P: 6 / 10 / 13 / 16 A · RCBO 4P: 10 / 13 / 16 / 20 / 25 / 32 / 35 / 50 / 63 / 80 / 100 A
MCB 2P: 6 / 10 / 13 / 16 A · MCB 4P: 10 / 13 / 16 / 20 / 25 / 32 / 35 / 50 / 63 / 80 / 100 / 125 A
RCD 2P: 25 A · RCD 4P: 25 / 40 / 63 A
CURVE: Trip characteristic (MCBs and RCBOs only · RCDs carry no trip curve). Hybird offers two curves:
C: Standard stock and general purpose. Trips at 5–10x rated current in the instantaneous zone. Suitable for conventional domestic and commercial installations with normal inrush characteristics.
B: Made to order (approximately four weeks). Trips at 3–5x rated current in the instantaneous zone. Suitable for circuits with minimal inrush, and for installations with variable-frequency drives, IT equipment, or renewable-energy systems.
POLES: Number of poles and configuration
2P: 2-pole (single phase + neutral)
4P: 4-pole (three-phase + neutral)
SENSITIVITY and RCD TYPE (RCBOs and RCDs only): The digits and letter after the pole count encode the residual-current specification. The digit denotes the sensitivity (3 = 30 mA · sensitivities available are 30, 100 and 300 mA) and the letter denotes the RCD detection type (A = Type A, detecting AC and pulsating DC · B = Type B, additionally detecting smooth DC). For example, the suffix 3B in HY-RCD-R404P3B means 30 mA sensitivity, Type B.
VERSION: An optional -V suffix denoting the firmware revision (for example -V3). Hybird manages firmware over the air, so the version suffix is not something customers or installers need to act on when ordering.
Example decoding
HY-RCD-R404P3B decodes as:
Hybird RCD, group type R
40 A rated current
4-pole (three-phase + neutral)
30 mA sensitivity
Type B residual-current detection (AC, pulsating DC, smooth DC)
HY-MCB-M16C4P decodes as: Hybird MCB, 16 A, C-curve, 4-pole.
RCD sensitivity grades
Hybird RCBOs and RCDs are available in the following sensitivity grades, encoded in the model number as described above:
30 mA: General protection (preferred for domestic circuits)
100 mA: Fault loop protection (for installations with poor earth or where 30 mA would nuisance trip)
300 mA: Equipment protection only (industrial circuits with high earth leakage tolerance)
Hybird's standard RCBOs contain a Type A RCD. Hybird RCDs are Type B as standard · use the Type B RCD for circuits that can produce smooth DC fault currents (EV charging, PV, VFDs).
Controller model naming convention
Two enclosure variants share the same controller hardware. Every controller carries triple connectivity · Ethernet (primary), Wi-Fi and LTE (fallbacks) · with a pre-configured SIM shipped in every unit:
ICO-C (BASE-LTE-LAN): The indoor controller · a DIN-rail module for installation inside an electrical panel, control room or equipment cabinet. Powered at 24 V DC via the Hybird PSU; consumption 3 W (125 mA at 24 V DC). Communication to breakers is RS485 Modbus RTU on a daisy-chain bus; up to approximately 80 breakers per controller.
ICO-CO (BASE-LTE-LAN-O): The outdoor controller · the same hardware in a weatherproof enclosure rated for harsh environments including snow, rain and heat. Mounts on a wall or pole.
BASE-LTE-LAN is the designation of the controller hardware platform itself, reflecting its connectivity (LTE and LAN); the -O suffix denotes the outdoor variant. The LTE SIM ships pre-configured with APN settings; data usage is passed through to the customer at cost.
Power supply: Hybird controllers require the Hybird PSU, sold separately at 219 kr. The PSU converts 230 V AC mains to 24 V DC, is DIN-rail mounted (35 mm, 2 modules), and measures 90 x 32 x 54 mm. The optional UPS (3.7 V / 20 Ah Li-Polymer, same DIN footprint) keeps the controller running for approximately 3 hours during mains failure · sold separately; see the Hybird webshop for current pricing.
CE and RoHS certification
All Hybird breakers (RCBO, MCB, and RCD) are CE and RoHS certified. Certificate copies are available on request from [email protected].
Webshop SKU and GTIN format
In the Hybird webshop and on product packaging, each product variant is assigned a unique SKU (stock-keeping unit) with a GTIN barcode for inventory and point-of-sale use.
GTIN format: Hybird GTINs are 13-digit EAN-13 codes beginning with the prefix 5744007. The remaining digits are unique product identifiers · they do not encode curve, amperage or pole configuration.

The SKU and GTIN are printed on the product packaging and in the Hybird webshop. Use the SKU when ordering replacement breakers or spare stock.

Hybird system components are priced as follows:
Controller (ICO-C or ICO-CO): 1,499 kr
Power supply unit (PSU): 219 kr
UPS (uninterruptible power supply): Optional add-on, sold separately · see the Hybird webshop for current pricing.

Software and service naming
Hybird platform services are named as follows:
Hybird OS: The cloud platform at the Hybird OS Platform, accessible via magic link authentication. This is the primary interface for monitoring and controlling your breakers remotely.
Hybird Connect: Compulsory cloud connectivity service. 49 DKK/month ex VAT. Required for all sites to enable remote access and real-time monitoring via Hybird OS.
Hybird Service: Optional managed monitoring and maintenance service. 499 DKK/month ex VAT. Everything in Connect, plus 24/7 monitoring, fault alerts, and remote support.

Identifying your model
To find the model number of an installed breaker:
Look on the face of the breaker for printed text. The model number (e.g. HY-RCBO-B16C4P) should be visible.
Scan the QR code on the breaker face to see the device information.
Alternatively, check the original invoice or panel design documentation.
To find the controller model:
Look on the controller enclosure or its interior mounting plate.
Scan the QR code on the controller face · every Hybird controller carries a QR asset tag that shows the device information.
