How alerts work

Hybird Service includes proactive alerting. When the system detects something unusual in your electrical data, an alert is generated so the issue can be investigated before it becomes a problem.

What triggers an alert

Alerts can be triggered by several conditions:

  • Controller offline:If a Hybird Edge Controller stops communicating with Hybird OS, an alert is raised. This may indicate a network issue, power loss, or hardware fault.

  • Elevated leakage current:If earth leakage on any circuit rises above a configured threshold, an alert is generated. Rising leakage can indicate deteriorating insulation or a developing fault that should be addressed before it causes a trip.

  • Overcurrent:If a breaker is consistently carrying current near or above its rated capacity, an alert flags the potential overload.

  • Abnormal temperature:If a breaker's temperature exceeds normal operating range, this may indicate overloading, poor terminal connections, or ambient temperature issues.

  • Breaker trip:If a breaker trips (changes from on to off unexpectedly), this is logged and may trigger an alert depending on the configuration.

  • Communication loss with individual breakers:If a specific breaker stops reporting data while the controller is still online, this may indicate an RS485 wiring issue or breaker fault.

How alerts are delivered

Alerts are visible in Hybird OS and are also communicated to the Hybird support team. Depending on your service configuration, you may also receive alert notifications directly by email.

What happens when an alert is raised

When the Hybird support team receives an alert:

  • They review the alert and the associated data in Hybird OS.

  • If the issue can be diagnosed remotely, they will contact you with their findings and recommendations.

  • If remote diagnosis is inconclusive, they may recommend an on-site inspection by your installer.

  • For urgent safety-related alerts, they will contact you immediately by phone.

Adjusting alert thresholds

Alert thresholds can be customised for your site. If you are receiving alerts that are not relevant (for example, a circuit with normally higher leakage due to the type of equipment connected), contact Hybird support to adjust the thresholds.
