Hybird OS · setting up alerts and thresholds

Alerts are a core feature of Hybird Service. They notify the support team (and optionally the customer) when a measurement falls outside expected parameters. This article explains how to configure alert thresholds.

Default alerts

When a site is set up with Hybird Service, the following alerts are active by default:

  • Controller offline: Triggered when the controller stops communicating with Hybird OS.

  • Breaker communication loss: Triggered when an individual breaker stops reporting data.

  • Breaker trip: Triggered when a breaker changes from ON to OFF unexpectedly.

Configurable thresholds

The following alert thresholds can be customised per breaker or per site:

Parameter

Typical threshold

What it detects

Leakage current (mA)

15-20 mA

Rising leakage indicates deteriorating insulation. Set below the RCBO trip level (30 mA) to get early warning.

Current (A)

80-90% of rated capacity

Sustained high current approaching the breaker's rating. Indicates potential overload.

Temperature (°C)

Depends on installation

Abnormal breaker temperature. May indicate overloading or poor connections.

Setting thresholds

Threshold configuration is managed by Hybird support during site setup, or adjusted on request. To change thresholds, contact Hybird support with:

  • The site and breaker(s) to configure.

  • The parameter and desired threshold value.

  • Any context about why the default is not appropriate (e.g., "this circuit has a VFD with normally high leakage").

Tuning alerts

Alert tuning is important to avoid false positives (too many alerts for normal conditions) while catching genuine issues. After a site has been running for a few weeks, review the alert history:

  • If a specific breaker is generating frequent leakage alerts but the load is known to produce capacitive leakage (e.g., VFDs, LED drivers), raise the threshold for that breaker.

  • If a circuit regularly runs at high capacity, adjust the current threshold to avoid nuisance alerts while still catching genuine overloads.

  • If no alerts are being generated at all, the thresholds may be too high · consider tightening them.

Alert delivery

Alerts appear in Hybird OS and are sent to the Hybird support team. Depending on the site's configuration, alerts may also be sent directly to the customer by email. Contact Hybird support to configure alert delivery preferences.
