After Hybird Optimisation is installed, you may have questions about how your electricity bill relates to the savings Hybird delivers. This article explains how to reconcile the two.
What your electricity bill includes
Your electricity bill from your retailer (e.g., Norlys, Ørsted, Vindstød) includes several components:
Spot price (elpris): The hourly wholesale price from Nord Pool.
Grid tariff (nettarif): A fee from your local grid company (e.g., Radius, N1, Cerius).
System tariff (systemtarif): A fee for the national transmission system.
Electricity tax (elafgift): A per-kWh government tax.
Retailer markup: Your electricity provider's margin.
VAT (moms):25% applied to the total.
Where Hybird savings appear
Hybird Optimisation reduces overall electricity consumption by eliminating ghost loads and optimising breaker schedules. This reduces both the spot-price component and the volume of kWh consumed (which affects grid tariffs, taxes, and fees).
The fixed components per meter (subscription fees from your grid company or retailer) are not affected by consumption reduction, as they are charged regardless of usage.
Why savings may not be obvious on your bill
Several factors can make it difficult to see Hybird savings directly on your bill:
Other cost changes: If electricity spot prices have risen overall, your total bill may be higher even though Hybird is reducing consumption. Compare what you would have paid without Hybird, not just the absolute bill amount.
Consumption changes: If your total consumption has increased (e.g., new equipment, colder winter), the total bill rises regardless of optimisation.
Fixed costs dominate: In periods of low spot prices, the fixed components (tax, tariffs) make up a larger proportion of the total, so consumption savings are a smaller percentage of the whole bill.
Billing period mismatch: Your bill may cover a different period than the one you are comparing in Hybird OS.
How to verify savings
The most accurate way to verify savings is through your Hybird OS dashboard, which can show actual consumption with precise granularity.
