Clear breaker naming is essential for effective monitoring, troubleshooting, and support. When breakers have vague or inconsistent names, it is difficult for anyone · installers, customers, support staff, or the Maggie AI agent · to understand what each circuit serves.
Naming conventions
Use a consistent format across all breakers on a site. A good breaker name answers the question: "What does this circuit power, and where?"
Recommended format: [Circuit number] [Load description], [Location]
Examples:
L-1 Lighting, ground floor
L-2 Sockets, kitchen
L-3 Heat pump, basement
L-4 EV charger, parking
L-5 Ventilation, roof
Best practices
Match the physical panel. The name in Hybird OS should match the label on the physical breaker in the panel. If the panel has a circuit schedule, use the same naming.
Be specific. "Sockets" is less useful than "Sockets, conference room 2." The more specific the name, the easier it is to troubleshoot remotely.
Use the local language. If the customer and their installer operate in Danish, Danish names are fine. The names are for human readability.
Include the circuit number. Prefixing with L-1, L-2 etc. makes it easy to cross-reference with the physical panel layout.
Avoid abbreviations unless they are universally understood on that site.
How to rename breakers
In Hybird OS, navigate to the site and controller.
Select the breaker you want to rename.
Edit the name field and save.
Names can be changed at any time without affecting the breaker's operation or data history.
Bulk naming
For large installations, it is more efficient to prepare a naming spreadsheet (circuit number, Modbus ID, name) before commissioning, then apply the names in sequence during the breaker scan. This avoids confusion during setup.
Why this matters for Maggie
The Maggie AI agent uses breaker names when responding to customer and installer queries. If a customer asks "why is my kitchen circuit drawing so much power?", Maggie needs to be able to match "kitchen" to a specific breaker name. Clear, descriptive names make this possible. Note that whilst Maggie uses breaker names in conversations, Maggie cannot access real electricity consumption data or customer account information · the human support team can access that level of detail if needed.
