Remote switching not working · troubleshooting guide

If you are unable to remotely turn a breaker on or off through Hybird OS, follow these steps.

Step 1: Check controller connectivity

Remote switching requires the controller to be online and connected to Hybird OS. Check the controller's "last seen" timestamp via the Hybird platform. If the controller is offline, resolve connectivity first using the System Offline troubleshooting guide.

Step 2: Check the breaker state in Hybird OS

In Hybird OS, verify the breaker's current reported state (on/off). If the state shows correctly but the switch command does not execute:

  • The command may be queued. Wait 30 seconds and check again.

  • If the state has not changed, the breaker may not be receiving the RS485 command. Check RS485 communication.

  • Also, make sure the breaker is in "Work" mode, with the LED blinking red, and the green mode selecting switch, positioned upwards, to the top.

Step 3: Check for manual override

Hybird breakers have a physical toggle. If the breaker has been manually switched, it may not respond to remote commands until it is returned to its remote-controllable position. Check the physical breaker position on site.

Step 4: Check RS485 communication

Remote switching commands travel from Hybird OS to the controller via the connectivity path on site, and from the controller to the breaker via RS485. If RS485 communication is disrupted, the command cannot reach the breaker.

  • Check whether the breaker is reporting measurements in Hybird OS. If it is, the RS485 link is working and the issue is elsewhere.

  • If the breaker is not reporting measurements, refer to the Data Gaps troubleshooting guide.

Step 5: Escalate

If the controller is online, RS485 is working, and the breaker is not in manual override, but remote switching still does not work, contact Hybird support. This may indicate a firmware issue or a hardware fault with the breaker's switching mechanism.
