Breaker states · Addressed, Addressing, Live and Isolated

The four Hybird breaker states explained · Addressed or Addressing, Live or Isolated · with the LED blink colours, what the green dip switch and yellow safety lock are, and video reference for every state.

Every Hybird breaker signals its state through a single LED. The LED always blinks · it is never solid. The pattern reflects two things, each set by a physical control on the breaker face:

The green dip switch sets the mode · UP means Work mode (the breaker is addressed and operating normally) and DOWN means Set Up mode (the breaker is being addressed).

The black handle set determines whether the circuit is live or isolated: handles UP means Live, handles DOWN means Isolated.

The four states at a glance

Addressed & Live: LED blinking red · Work mode, breaker ON. This is the normal operating state.

Addressed & Isolated: LED blinking blue · Work mode, breaker OFF.

Addressing & Live: LED blinking blue/purple · Setup mode, breaker ON.

Addressing & Isolated: LED blinking purple/red · Setup mode, breaker OFF.

Any pattern with purple in it means the breaker is in Setup mode · it is being addressed and will not respond to remote switching or report data normally.

Breaker ON · Work mode. LED blinking red · dip switch UP · handles UP. This is the normal operating state.


Addressed & Isolated

Breaker OFF · Work mode. LED blinking blue · dip switch UP · handles DOWN.

What the green dip switch is

The dip switch is the small recessed green switch on the breaker face, next to the status LED. It selects the breaker's mode: UP for Work mode, DOWN for Set Up mode. Work mode is where a breaker spends its life · it holds its Modbus address, reports data and responds to remote commands. Set Up mode exists for one purpose: giving the breaker its address during commissioning, or re-addressing it later.

Use an insulated screwdriver to flip it. The LED confirms the change immediately · purple enters the blink pattern the moment the breaker drops into Set Up mode, and disappears when it returns to Work mode. No restart is needed. Only ever place one breaker in Set Up mode at a time.

The yellow safety lock

The yellow safety lock is the pull-out pin on the front of the breaker, beside the dip switch. Pulling it out mechanically blocks the handle set, so the breaker cannot be switched on · by hand or by a remote command · until the lock is pushed back in.

This matters because Hybird breakers can be operated remotely. A circuit that is isolated at the panel can be re-energised from the platform unless it is physically locked out. That is why the breaker carries the printed warning to always utilise the yellow safety lock when interacting with it.

Pull the lock out whenever you are physically handling the breaker or working on its circuit, and treat it as part of your normal lockout/tagout procedure. Remote switching is a convenience feature, not a safety isolation · see Electrical safety procedures for Hybird installation.
