If your site loses power, here is what happens to your Hybird system and what to expect when power returns.
During the outage
When mains power is lost:
Breakers: All Hybird breakers lose power along with the rest of your electrical panel. They cannot measure or switch while power is off. This is normal - they behave the same as any standard circuit breaker during an outage.
Controller: If your installation includes a UPS (3.7V / 20Ah Li-Polymer battery backup), the controller continues to operate on battery power for a limited time. During this period, it cannot control breakers (since the panel has no power), but it can report its status to Hybird OS via the internet, confirming that the site has lost power.
Without UPS: If there is no UPS, the controller loses power immediately and goes offline. Hybird OS will show the controller as "last seen" at the time of the outage.
When power returns
When mains power is restored:
The PSU powers up and supplies the controller.
The controller boots and re-establishes its connectivity (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or LTE).
Breakers return to their last configured state and begin reporting measurements to the controller via RS485.
Any data that was queued during the outage (if the controller had battery power) is uploaded to Hybird OS.
The boot process typically takes 2-3 minutes. You do not need to do anything manually - the system recovers automatically.
Data gaps
You may notice a gap in your consumption data in Hybird OS corresponding to the period when the system was without power. This is expected and does not indicate a fault. The data simply was not available to be measured during the outage.
Frequent outages
If your site experiences frequent power outages, consider adding a UPS to your installation to maintain controller connectivity during short outages. Contact your installer or Hybird support to discuss options.
