Overview
Breakers are normally addressed during commissioning, using the per-breaker Assembly guide in the Hybird app · see Building and commissioning a panel with the Hybird app. Once a panel has moved to Operating and is reporting live data, that flow no longer applies · and this article covers the flow that replaces it.
When a new breaker is added to an operating panel, the address command is sent by Hybird support, remotely via the panel's controller, while a person on site handles the physical mode change. The two halves must happen at the same moment, so the on-site person and Hybird support are on the phone together throughout.
When this flow applies
A new breaker is being added to a panel that is already in Operating state.
A breaker will not take an address through the app during commissioning · Hybird support can use the same remote command as a fallback.
For swapping a faulty breaker like for like, see Replacing a faulty breaker · field procedure.
Before the visit
Hybird support prepares the new device on the panel in advance, so nothing needs to be set up in the app on site · the new breaker will typically appear in the panel view as needing to be addressed. Agree a time with Hybird support for the addressing itself: the switch flip and the command have to happen together.
The on-site procedure
Identify the new breaker in the panel · it is usually the one without a printed label yet, and the panel view in the app shows it as needing to be addressed.
Call Hybird support before flipping anything.
Look down the rail and confirm no other breaker has purple in its LED pattern. Only one breaker on the bus may be in setup mode at a time · the address command is a broadcast.
Flip the green dip switch DOWN into setup mode (a small flathead screwdriver works well). The LED starts alternating two colours with purple in the pattern · blue/purple if the breaker is on, purple/red if it is off. Confirm this on the phone.
Hybird support sends the address command via the controller. Watch the breaker and confirm that all the LEDs flashed · that is the confirmation the address landed.
Once Hybird support confirms the address on the phone, flip the dip switch back UP to work mode. The LED settles to a single blinking colour · red if the breaker is on, blue if it is off.
Verify together: the device stops showing as needing to be addressed and begins reporting measurements.
The green dip switch on the breaker face · DOWN = setup mode, UP = work mode. The full handling sequence, work mode → setup mode → work mode:
The app screens in the sequence are from the normal commissioning flow · in this remote flow the command comes from Hybird support instead, but the switch handling is identical. Confirm every mode change by the LED, never by the switch position alone:
The dip switch and every LED pattern are covered in full in Setup mode and work mode · flipping the dip switch during addressing and Breaker states · Addressed, Addressing, Live and Isolated.
Safety
The panel stays energised throughout · setup mode never affects the breaker's protection or the circuit it feeds. Standard live-panel precautions apply, and always utilise the yellow safety lock when interacting with the breaker.
If something goes wrong
The LEDs did not flash · stay on the phone; Hybird support re-checks the result and can resend the command while the breaker remains in setup mode.
Two breakers were in setup mode at once · an address collision may have been created. See Modbus address collisions · troubleshooting guide.
The breaker was left in setup mode · it will not report or respond until the switch is returned to work mode. Flip it back UP and confirm the LED settles to a single colour.

Summary
Adding a breaker to a panel that is already Operating uses a remote addressing flow: Hybird support prepares the device and sends the address command via the controller, while the person on site flips the green dip switch into setup mode, confirms all the LEDs flashed, and returns the switch to work mode · all coordinated live on the phone, with the panel energised throughout and only one breaker in setup mode at a time.
